Before revealing the latest Nissan news, Jenkins Nissan would like to take a second to lay some groundwork regarding current automotive safety trends. First off, most all automakers have been working for years to come up with possibly life-saving and accident-avoidance technologies. The problem? These features often come at a high-cost because they require the use of expensive radar sensors. Furthermore, study upon study has shown that consumers would rather pay extra for convenience features than safety.

Released only last year, the Nissan LEAF is powering ahead on the road to a zero-emissions society. Adding spark to keep the model's electric fire going, the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame (JAHFA) recently bestowed not one, but two impressive awards upon the LEAF: "2011-2012 Car of the Year" and "2011-2012 Car Design of the Year."
