Nissan Leaf Is making traveling across the pond to compete in the classic Canonball Run. The race is being held in Ireland this year, and there will be a combination of diesel, gasoline, and alternative fuel racers competing.
The Cannonball Run is not the same race it use to be in the 1970's. Back then it was a dangerous but today's it has evolved into a charity event. Sponsors can donate and help "raise money for Barretstown Camp, which caters to children with cancer and other serious illnesses."1
ESB Escars is sponsoring the EV Leaf in this year's Cannonball Race. ESB is hoping to use this as an opportunity to demonstrate that the electric car is a practical alternative for long and short traveling distances. Those at Jenkins Nissan - 4401 State Road 33N - Lakeland, FL can't disagree.
Leaf will keep its batteries charged thanks to existing charge points along the 600-plus mile course. The car will likely use fast-charging and conventional charging stations. This specific Leaf can keep up to almost a 100 mile charge before needing each refills.
Nissan's Leaf is, in fact, the first electric car to enter Cannonball Run. Good Luck ESB!
